The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Little Flower

The Basilica is located on Zarzamora Street in San Antonio, Texas, was built and staffed by the Discalced Carmelite Friars. The exterior is built of a most durable material, Indiana limestone . Impressively beautiful with the sun reflecting off the golden domes onto a red tile roof, the Basilica is flanked by two massive towers. The main tower rises one hundred sixteen feet and has three sections which contain a carillon of bells. The six bells weigh eight thousand pounds. The smaller tower (seventy two feet) is surmounted by a bronze statue of the Little Flower. The statue looks towards downtown San Antonio, and while one hand holds up the crucifix, the other is scattering roses over those who enter the Basilica. The artist who painted these watercolors has his residence and studio on the same street as the Basilica at 1703 W. Kings Highway.
The Studio gallery is open by appointment only by calling (210) 736-9272
